Nathan and Dorthy shown District #2 1850 Barren County, Kentucky census dwelling #676, Family #693, page 451b.. Moved to Kentucky (Hill-Beckton area Barren County) from Virginia. Children's names and ages from 1850 census house #693 occupation listed as cooper--census done August 27, 1850, neighbors listed as Matthews, Stout and Nichols all married into family.
I believe Father to be Claiborn Bowles and Mother's maiden name to be Anderson, Claiborn shown 1810 Barren County Census, Nathan shown under 10 years old, Claiborn owned no land but 1809 Tax Roles Barren County, Kentucky shows slaves and horses, (Gorin Barren County post, www). Age , birth from Census records, only.
1826 Tax Roles Barren County, Kentucky paid taxes on 100 acres on Fallen Timber Creek (originally entered in the name of Rowsey ).
Barren County, Kentucky Land Records--Moses Peden to Nathaniel Bowles, 100 acres of land North side of Fallen Timber Creek--January 04, 1839 Indenture made, Deed registered 27 May 1839--note for $250.00 paid by hand March 01, 1839 (deed books show land transferred from Thomas Rowsey and wife Elizabeth to Moses Peden and Abner Wells--Samuel Cockran did survey).
Barren County Court Records Equity Court Case Nathan Bowles to Havilah Curd case #1241 June 01, 1841 a note for $38--note was not repaid and Curd files 06 April 1842 in Court for non pay against land owned, asks that land be sold. Court Decreed Sale dated 15 April 1844, sale made 15 April 1844, and registered 20 April 1844, 100 acres of land for $46.07 N. Bowles to Thomas Duncan--reference Barren County Deed Book R page 174 signed Commisioner-Chancery Circuit Court March 1844.
